About WPDeveloper
WPDeveloper is a Dhaka-based WordPress product company known for Essential Addons for Elementor, one of the most widely installed add-on libraries in the Elementor ecosystem, along with a lineup of plugins and a theme used by millions of website owners worldwide. M Asif Rahman founded the company in 2012, several years after building his first venture, ARCom, while still a university student.
The company has since grown from a single WordPress plugin experiment into one of Bangladesh's larger software exporters, working out of its own office in Mirpur DOHS, Dhaka, and serving more than 6 million users across over 180 countries.
That growth has been gradual rather than sudden. Earlier company materials put its user base at roughly 500,000, a figure that has grown more than tenfold as Essential Addons and its sibling plugins picked up wider adoption across the WordPress ecosystem over the following years.
Starting With a Problem the Team Had Itself
M Asif Rahman built WPDeveloper around a simple approach: solve problems the team ran into in its own WordPress projects rather than chase whatever looked like a trend at the time. Nazmul Hasan Rupok, who studied computer science and engineering, joined as co-founder and has served as CEO since the company's early years, running day-to-day operations while M Asif Rahman built out a wider portfolio of ventures alongside it.
That first-hand approach shaped WPDeveloper's early plugins, most of which grew out of gaps the founding team noticed while building WordPress sites for other clients rather than out of formal market research.
Essential Addons Becomes a Category Leader
In 2017, the company launched Essential Addons for Elementor, a widget library built to fill in gaps the Elementor page builder left open at the time. The plugin found an audience quickly, growing to more than 7 million active installations and close to 5 percent of the global market among Elementor add-ons.
That single release turned WPDeveloper into one of the largest plugin companies in the WordPress ecosystem, with a dedicated engineering team behind its ongoing development, and gave the company the resources to build out a wider suite of products under the same brand.
Building a Full Product Suite
Beyond Essential Addons, WPDeveloper now maintains NotificationX, a social proof and FOMO marketing plugin that shows live sales and signup notifications on WordPress sites, and BetterDocs, a documentation and knowledge base plugin companies use to build self-service support content. Both grew out of needs WPDeveloper's own support and marketing teams had while running the company's other products.
The company also built Templately, a cloud template library for Elementor and Gutenberg with thousands of ready-made designs, and Flexia, a Gutenberg-ready WordPress theme built to work across the rest of the product lineup. Together, the five products give WPDeveloper a foothold across several different parts of the WordPress building process rather than just one.
Recognition and Where the Company Stands Today
WPDeveloper won the ICT National Award in 2019, one of Bangladesh's more prominent recognitions for locally built software, and has been a regular sponsor of WordCamp Dhaka, the country's largest annual WordPress community event. The company operates within the broader Startise portfolio, alongside other Bangladeshi software ventures Nazmul Hasan Rupok has helped build.
Startise also includes Storeware, Easy.Jobs, and xCloud among its other companies, giving Nazmul Hasan Rupok oversight across a small cluster of Bangladeshi software businesses beyond WPDeveloper alone. M Asif Rahman remains involved as founder, though he has stepped back from holding an executive title at the company as he spends more time on Startise and the other ventures in his wider portfolio, while Nazmul Hasan Rupok runs WPDeveloper's day-to-day operations from Dhaka.
