About weDevs

weDevs is a Dhaka-based WordPress product company behind Dokan Multivendor, the most widely adopted marketplace plugin in the WooCommerce ecosystem, along with a wider suite of WordPress and SaaS tools used by more than 500,000 businesses worldwide. Tareq Hasan and Nizam Uddin founded the company in May 2012, working out of a rented house in Rajshahi rather than a funded startup office.

The two co-founders had met years earlier at a cybercafé in Pabna, long before either of them thought about starting a company, and they built weDevs around a plugin Tareq Hasan had already released rather than a fresh idea created specifically for the launch.

Two Developers, One Rented House in Rajshahi

Before founding weDevs, Tareq Hasan had already released WP User Frontend, a WordPress plugin that picked up a loyal following on WordPress.org while he was still a student. Nizam Uddin, meanwhile, had tried and abandoned two earlier ventures, a campus news portal and an education platform, before he and Tareq Hasan decided to build something together around the plugin Tareq Hasan had already shipped.

That combination, an existing product with real users and two co-founders willing to commit to it full-time, is what became weDevs rather than a plan drawn up before either of them had built anything.

Turning a Plugin Into a Business

The turning point came in early 2013, when weDevs released a premium version of WP User Frontend and started generating between $8,000 and $10,000 a month, according to Nizam Uddin's own account of the period. That revenue is what let the two co-founders treat weDevs as a real business rather than a side project.

Later that year, they relocated the company from Rajshahi to Dhaka and committed to it full-time, with Tareq Hasan taking on the CTO role overseeing engineering and Nizam Uddin stepping into the CEO role running the business.

Dokan Becomes the Flagship Product

weDevs' defining product, Dokan Multivendor, was built to fill a gap in the WooCommerce ecosystem: before Dokan, there was no fully-featured way to run an Amazon or Etsy-style marketplace on WordPress. It has since grown into the most widely adopted multivendor plugin in the space, powering more than 50,000 online marketplaces worldwide.

Rather than raise outside funding to scale Dokan or the rest of its product line, weDevs has stayed bootstrapped throughout, funding its own growth from product revenue the way it did back in 2013.

Speaking for the Industry, Not Just Building Inside It

Both co-founders have become regular voices at WordPress events well beyond Bangladesh. Tareq Hasan speaks at WordCamps across the region, including WordCamp Dhaka and WordCamp Malaysia, on the practical side of running a WordPress product company, technical scaling, and open-source contribution, and he maintains the Bengali translation of WordPress core.

Nizam Uddin, for his part, talks openly about using structured growth frameworks like AARRR (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Referral, Revenue) to keep weDevs growing consistently, and about the two failed ventures that came before weDevs succeeded, a habit that has made him a recognizable voice for other Bangladeshi founders navigating their own false starts.

A Wider Product Suite and Where weDevs Stands Today

Beyond Dokan, weDevs has built out a broader suite that includes WP ERP, weMail, and FlyWP, a managed WordPress hosting and server management platform launched more recently to extend the company's reach into infrastructure. Company talent from weDevs has also gone on to help build sibling ventures in Bangladesh's WordPress ecosystem, including HappyAddons and the design studio Leevio.

Today, weDevs runs a team of more than 50 people out of Dhaka, and its products collectively reach more than 500,000 businesses and site owners around the world. Nearly a decade and a half after two friends rented a house in Rajshahi, it remains one of the clearest examples of a Bangladeshi WordPress company that scaled globally without outside investment.

Products

weDevs' product lineup spans marketplace software, business management, email marketing, and hosting infrastructure, all built for the WordPress ecosystem since 2012.

Dokan Multivendor is a WooCommerce marketplace plugin used to power more than 50,000 online marketplaces, from Amazon-style stores to service and digital-product marketplaces.

WP ERP is a web-based ERP solution built for WordPress, combining HR management, CRM, and accounting modules into a single dashboard.

weMail is an email marketing and newsletter platform built for WordPress and WooCommerce sites, offering campaign automation without leaving the WordPress dashboard.

FlyWP is a managed WordPress cloud hosting and server management platform, weDevs' most recent expansion beyond plugins and into infrastructure.

Across marketplaces, business management, email, and hosting, weDevs' four flagship products reflect the same pattern that built the company in the first place: solving a problem the founders ran into themselves, then scaling it into a tool used by hundreds of thousands of businesses, all built and supported by a team working out of Dhaka.
