About Riseup Labs
Riseup Labs is a Dhaka-based technology company that builds custom software, games, immersive technology, BPO services, and AI-powered platforms for clients around the world. Ershadul Hoque founded the company after nearly two decades of hands-on development work and one earlier startup abroad, rather than as a first venture straight out of school.
His path to founding Riseup Labs ran through steady, informal project work as a student long before entrepreneurship became a deliberate goal.
Coding Since His Student Years
Ershadul Hoque started developing web and mobile applications in 2005, while still a student, working in PHP, CSS, and early Android development. It wasn't formal entrepreneurship at that point, just steady part-time project work driven by curiosity about how software got built, on top of whatever he was formally studying.
That early, informal apprenticeship in shipping real projects gave him a practical grounding that shaped how he would later run his own company, favoring hands-on delivery over theory.
A Startup in Malaysia First
Before founding Riseup Labs, Ershadul Hoque co-founded Enveluv Sdn Bhd, a startup affiliated with Multimedia University in Malaysia. Enveluv received a pre-seed fund of RM 150,000 from the Multimedia Development Corporation, a Malaysian government agency focused on digital economy development.
Running that company gave Ershadul Hoque direct experience with a formal startup funding process and cross-border operations before he returned to Bangladesh to build something of his own.
Founding Riseup Labs
Ershadul Hoque founded Riseup Labs after developing a deeper interest in entrepreneurship through his prior projects and his time at Enveluv. Rather than narrowing into a single vertical, he built the company around a broader range of digital capabilities: custom software development, game development, immersive technologies like AR and VR, business process outsourcing, and more recently, AI-powered platforms.
That range, including the company's own Riseup Gaming Platform, is part of what distinguishes Riseup Labs from many Bangladeshi software companies that stick to a single service line. It also means the company competes in several different markets at once rather than concentrating its reputation around one flagship product, a riskier but more varied approach to growth than most of its Dhaka-based peers have taken.
Building Across Software, Games, and Immersive Tech
Under Ershadul Hoque's leadership, the company has worked across sectors that don't typically overlap in one company's portfolio, from enterprise software projects to interactive game titles, reflecting his own background moving between different kinds of technical work rather than specializing early.
Employee reviews describe a workplace open to trying new ideas and exploring new technology, including active adoption of AI tools, alongside more standard concerns like food quality and the absence of a formal provident fund, common growing pains for a company Riseup Labs' size.
Recognition Beyond Bangladesh
Ershadul Hoque's work has been recognized internationally, including a win at the Bangladesh Gaming Expo in 2017 and a Bizz Hybrid Award for leadership from the World Confederation of Businesses, an award that recognizes business leaders across multiple countries rather than a single domestic market. Both accolades reflect the same cross-disciplinary reputation that has followed him since his time in Malaysia, recognized as much for range as for depth in any single specialty.
Still Building, Nearly Two Decades In
Two decades after he first started writing code as a student, Ershadul Hoque continues to lead Riseup Labs' push into newer territory, particularly AI-powered platforms and immersive technology, rather than settling into the services that built the company's early revenue. That range is also what shows up in employee feedback, colleagues who describe getting to work on many different kinds of projects rather than the same narrow assignment repeated for years.
Products
Riseup Labs' work spans custom software, games, immersive technology, and outsourcing services rather than a single packaged product.
Riseup Gaming Platform is the company's own game development and publishing arm, covering interactive titles built in-house and for clients.
Custom Software Development covers bespoke application and enterprise software builds for clients across industries.
Immersive Technology (AR/VR) applies augmented and virtual reality development to client projects, one of Riseup Labs' more distinctive service lines among Bangladeshi technology companies.
AI-Powered Platforms represent the company's newest push, applying AI to both client projects and its own internal tools.
Across gaming, custom software, immersive tech, and AI platforms, Riseup Labs' range reflects the same pattern that has defined Ershadul Hoque's career: moving across different kinds of technical work rather than narrowing into one, built by a team working out of Dhaka.
Life at Riseup Labs
Riseup Labs runs its office in Uttara, Dhaka, where teams work across custom software, game development, immersive tech, BPO, and AI-powered platforms rather than a single product line.
