About Rezaul Hasan

M. Rezaul Hassan is the Founder and Group CEO of REVE Systems, a telecom and VoIP software company that now serves more than 2,300 telecommunications operators across over 80 countries.

What's now a multi-vertical conglomerate with a Singapore headquarters started, more than two decades ago, in a small garage in Dhaka with six people and a single product idea.

From Agricultural Engineering to Telecom Software

Hassan was born in Dhaka in 1968 and grew up in the city's Khilgaon area, attending Khilgaon Government High School before Notre Dame College. His academic path wasn't a straight line to software: he completed his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering at Bangladesh Agricultural University, then went on to earn an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the University of Dhaka.

Before starting his own company, he held senior executive roles at several IT and internet service providers, which is where he built the industry knowledge that later shaped REVE Systems.

Six Employees in a Khilgaon Garage

Hassan founded REVE Systems in 2003, starting with just six employees working out of a small garage in Khilgaon, not far from where he grew up.

The company's first product was a billing solution built for the VoIP industry, which it commercialized in 2004. It was a narrow, unglamorous starting point, but it gave the company a foothold in a telecom software niche that was still relatively undeveloped at the time.

Building a VoIP Billing Business

That early billing product grew into a broader push into VoIP and OTT solutions for telecom carriers.

As mobile and internet-based calling took off globally, REVE Systems built out software that let telecom operators manage the shift, positioning the company as an early, credible player in a market that was expanding faster than most local software firms could keep up with.

Growing Into a Global Conglomerate

As Dhaka Tribune has reported, REVE Systems is now headquartered in Singapore, with major research and development centers based in Bangladesh and India, reflecting its origins even as its footprint expanded internationally.

What started as a single product has grown into REVE Group, now made up of nine business verticals spanning telecom software, chat and customer engagement tools (REVE Chat), antivirus software, and even real estate (REVE Properties), a level of diversification uncommon among Bangladeshi tech companies of similar age.

A Recognized Industry Leader

In 2017, Hassan was named ICT Business Person of the Year in an award jointly organized by The Daily Star and the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), with support from Microsoft and Brac Bank, recognition that reflected both REVE's growth and Hassan's standing within Bangladesh's broader tech industry.

Beyond the Balance Sheet

Hassan's wife, Monnujan Nargis, was REVE Systems' first angel investor and is a co-founder of the group, a partnership that's been part of the company's story from its earliest days.

Hassan is also a practitioner of meditation, having completed the Quantum Method program, and has introduced meditation practices into REVE's corporate culture, an unusual detail for a telecom software company, but one that's consistent with how he talks about building a business meant to last rather than exit quickly.
