About Kawshar Ahmed
Kawshar Ahmed is the Founder and CEO of Ollyo, the Dhaka-based parent company behind JoomShaper, Tutor LMS, and the no-code website builder Kirki. He came to software from an unusual academic background, a degree in textile engineering rather than computer science.
An Unlikely Path Into Web Development
Kawshar Ahmed studied at Bangladesh Textile University, a field with little direct connection to the WordPress and Joomla products he'd go on to build. He began working in web development in 2008, two years before starting his own company, picking up much of the practical skill outside any formal software curriculum.
Founding JoomShaper in 2010
In 2010, Kawshar Ahmed founded JoomShaper, betting on the Joomla content management system at a time when most Bangladeshi web developers were gravitating toward WordPress instead. Over the following years, the company built and released more than 120 premium Joomla templates and over 30 extensions, staying committed to a platform many competitors had already written off.
Building Beyond Joomla
As WordPress's market share grew, Kawshar Ahmed expanded the company's focus into it as well, launching Tutor LMS, a learning management plugin that gives training centers, schools, and individual course creators a way to run a full e-learning platform without separate LMS software. He later added a freeform visual website builder for WordPress, originally released under the name Droip and later renamed Kirki.
Restructuring as Ollyo
In January 2021, Kawshar Ahmed restructured the growing collection of products under a single parent company, Ollyo, bringing JoomShaper, Themeum, IcoFont, and later ventures under one roof. That consolidation gave the various product teams shared infrastructure and leadership while letting each brand keep its own identity in the market.
Running a Team Built Around Craft
Kawshar Ahmed leads a self-managed team of more than 65 people from Ollyo's Dhaka office, staying personally involved in product development rather than stepping back into a purely executive role. He has said his focus remains heavily on the product side, working closely with design and engineering teams on the features that actually ship.
