About Fahim Ahmed
Fahim Ahmed is the Managing Director and CEO of Pathao, the multi-service platform that has become central to how millions of people in Bangladesh move around, order food, and get goods delivered. He came to Pathao not as a startup founder but as a finance and investment professional with nearly two decades of experience behind him.
Finance Before Founders
Ahmed graduated from Middlebury College in the United States and built more than eighteen years of experience across finance, investment, and operations roles in Bangladesh, South Asia, and the US. He worked as an investor at the Royal Bank of Scotland and American Securities, and as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs in New York.
That background gave him exposure to how capital moves through mature markets, experience that would later prove useful evaluating and scaling a fast-growing consumer platform in an emerging one.
Building Bangladesh's First Mid-Market Fund
Before joining Pathao, Ahmed served as Managing Director at SEAF, a global emerging-market investment firm, where he co-founded and managed the first mid-market investment fund in Bangladesh. That work put him directly in contact with the country's growth-stage companies, including the ones later shaping its digital economy.
It also gave him a vantage point most operating executives don't have: years spent evaluating other companies' growth plans before running one himself.
Joining Pathao as CFO
Ahmed joined Pathao in early 2018 as Chief Financial Officer, stepping into a company that was still scaling its ride-sharing and delivery operations across Bangladesh. By mid-2020, he had taken on the role of President, overseeing day-to-day operations through the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic, a period that reshaped demand for delivery and logistics almost overnight.
That stretch tested Pathao's operational resilience directly, and Ahmed was responsible for keeping the platform running as consumer behavior shifted rapidly toward on-demand delivery.
Becoming CEO
As The Business Standard reported at the time, Ahmed was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Pathao on November 1, 2021. Under his leadership, the platform has grown to serve more than 8 million users, supported by a network of roughly 300,000 drivers and delivery agents, 30,000 merchants, and 10,000 restaurants.
That scale has made Pathao the largest digital platform spanning ride-sharing, food delivery, e-commerce logistics, and fintech services across both Bangladesh and Nepal, a footprint built on the operational and financial groundwork Ahmed helped lay years before he took the top job.
