About Abdullah Al Musabbir
Abdullah Al Musabbir is the Co-Founder and CEO of Ostad, a live-streaming education company built to help job seekers, employees, and freelancers in Bangladesh develop practical, employable skills. As Prothom Alo has covered, the platform's mission centers on live learning rather than pre-recorded content.
An Engineer's Path Into EdTech
Musabbir completed his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Khulna University of Engineering and Technology in 2018, later adding an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration at Jahangirnagar University. Before co-founding Ostad, he worked across a mix of technical and commercial roles, including as a Sales and Service Engineer at Shakira Trading International and a Product Support Engineer at Bangla Trac Limited, the local distributor for BanglaCAT equipment.
That engineering foundation, paired with hands-on commercial experience, gave him a practical view of the skills gap many young Bangladeshi job seekers faced, one that academic credentials alone weren't closing.
Five Engineers, One Platform
Musabbir co-founded Ostad in October 2020 alongside four fellow KUET graduates: Fahim Siddique, Mridul Khandaker, Shariful Mubin, and Shourov Barua. Rather than building another pre-recorded course library, the group designed Ostad around live-streamed classes, betting that real-time interaction with instructors would drive better skill retention than passive video content.
That decision to build for live delivery, technically more demanding than hosting static video, reflected the founders' own engineering instinct to solve the harder version of the problem directly.
Serving Job Seekers and Freelancers Directly
Under Musabbir's leadership, Ostad has focused specifically on job seekers, current employees looking to upskill, and freelancers building independent careers, a more targeted audience than the general student population most Bangladeshi edtech platforms pursue. That focus has let the platform build course content around specific, employable skills rather than broad academic subjects.
Building Toward Scale
Musabbir continues to lead Ostad's growth alongside his co-founding team, applying the same collaborative, five-person founding structure to scaling the platform's course catalog and live-instructor network. That structure, five engineers sharing founding responsibilities rather than a single visionary founder, has shaped how Ostad has approached expansion since its 2020 launch.
